The caseins present in the milk reacted to the pH present differently when compared to whey proteins, as the caseins were not properly digested. In contrast to this, the caseins present in goat milk were more efficiently digested as compared to the caseins in cow milk!

Is the nutritional value between goat and cow milk different?

Yes! It sure is. Every type of milk is different from each other, and so is their nutritive value.

According to the USDA, one cup of goat milk provides the following:

  •       170 calories
  •       9 grams of Protein
  •       10gms of Fat
  •       11gms of Carbohydrates
  •       11gms of Sugar
  •       25mg of Cholesterol.

Whereas, one cup of whole cow milk provides the following:

  •       160 calories
  •       8gms of Protein
  •       9gms of Fat
  •       11gms of Carbohydrates
  •       11gms of Sugar
  •       30mg of Cholesterol

So, it can be seen that in terms of macronutrients, both goat milk and cow milk are similar; however, goat milk comes on top in terms of protein and cholesterol. Even though the fat content in cow milk is lower than that of goat milk, goat milk is considered healthier.

As far as the nutrient profile is concerned, both offer a lot, but on their own terms and in different amounts. Goat milk is said to contain a higher amount of Calcium, Potassium, Vitamins A, Thiamin, Riboflavin, etc.
